SCHEDULE AND PAY RATE

• Schedule: Monday - Friday (9 AM to 1 PM EST)

• Hours: 20 hours per week

• Time Zone: Eastern Standard Time

• Languages Required: English, French

•Open to: LATAM

• Pay Rate: $15-$19/hr

*Rates are dependent on your experience and skills, determined by ProtopVA.*

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist senior traders with execution and documentation of trades, particularly metals and/or oil; gas contracts.

2. Analyze commodity market trends and pricing to identify trading opportunities.

3. Oversee trade execution and ensure compliance with transport contracts, cargo delivery, and regulatory requirements.

4. Coordinate with logistics and back-office teams for international shipping and settlement processes.

5. Prepare and review trade documents including bills of lading, shipping instructions, and insurance certificates. 

6. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, shipping agents, and other stakeholders.

7. Monitor risk exposures and support basic risk management strategies.

8. Maintain accurate trade records and provide regular performance reports. 

REQUIREMENTS

- Proven experience in physical commodities trading (preferably metals and/or oil & gas).

- Strong knowledge of market trends, pricing, and risk management principles.

- Experience in trade execution, logistics coordination, and compliance

- Familiarity with international trade documents (bills of lading, shipping instructions, insurance)

- Ability to prepare deal sheets and maintain accurate reports

- Excellent communication skills in English (French is a plus). 

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, PDF); knowledge of project/task management tools a plus

- Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently

- Strong relationship-building, problem-solving, and time management skills

- Sales or client interaction background in the commodities section preferred.
